The Rosette Nebula
1

Another First Light Image

This photo was taken on the same night I imaged The Horsehead and Flame Nebula. If you have not read that post yet, be sure to check it out as it includes much more detail than this one!

I imaged the Rosette Nebula the same night as The Horsehead and Flame Nebula, which was the first night I used my new astrophotography equipment. The new equipment includes a SkyWatcher EQ6-R Pro, and a William Optics GT71. Both images were shot in Ganado, Texas where there is little light pollution.

The Rosette Nebula is emission nebula primarily composed of hydorgen dust and young stars. Located over 5,000 light years away from Earth, The Rosette Nebula is roughly 130 light-years in diameter and is a sort of stellar nursery. There are dense pockets of dust and gas within the nebula, which could eventually collapse and form new stars.
